A golden milestone in the history of Dubai

Dubai Metro
Lets step back in time and remember when it all started in May 29, 2005 when Shaikh Mohammad at the official groundbreaking ceremony organized by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority at Mina Al Salam Hotel. Since that day digging took place, steel beams where placed, tracks were put, stations were constructed, till August 26, 2009 when testing the actual thing took place. Five years ago Dubai Metro was a dream, but today its reality which we are proud of.

Since the end of August Dubai Metro has been a trending topic amongst many of us here in Dubai. Everyone is impatiently waiting for the dawn of 9th Sept 09 to witness this great event. Plus it’s been so exciting to see the testing of it every morning and from my personal experience I’ve enjoyed racing the Metro every morning while heading to the office where I would win every time and this makes me wonder if I am driving fast or the Metro is actually slow. Anyhow, the Journey planner of Dubai Metro which is called “Wojhati” meaning “my destination” in Arabic is a great step forward to public transport system here in Dubai. Where recently, it was very difficult to travel around Dubai due to heavy traffic, therefore I believe that it will give us a relief from the traffic jam thanks to RTA.

The countdown has started and all are twittering, blogging and waiting for this drastic and historic event to launch. Briefly, all I can say is this is another thing which makes me proud of being an Emirati from Dubai!

This marks the day that proves that every great accomplishment starts with a dream; a dream that you must pursue and work hard to get regardless of all obstacles.
I am too proud to be an Emirati and to have a visionary leader; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is not just a ruler but a teacher and a great role model who shares his dream with his people and the world and turns them into realities proving that the ultimate dream of Dubai being No.1 in the world is not far away and the metro is a milestone towards achieving that dream.

Hats off and congratulations Dubai on this achievement not to forget the role of RTA and the efforts they've put to help make this dream a reality!!!!
