When you talk and tweet and then add a twist of Emirati
People talk about struggles everyday – sometimes, all day long. Most of these people don’t even look beyond their struggles or worries. The list can go on describing how these people can easily bring you and me down but it’s such a waste of time. I’d like to sum up these people as followers because they can’t make up their own sense of direction and tend to look for someone to follow. Someone who can create a vision, a path that lights up and maybe hold their hands as they follow. And then they follow the leaders on twitter … and are retwitters … but have nothing to say themselves.
But then, there’s a different group of people – the ones that don’t make up the majority. The ones who aren’t followers. The ones who look beyond their needs, beyond their family, beyond their friends and reach out to see the needs of the society they live in, around their communities. When they carry the burden of understanding people other than themselves and take a lead in opening up more channels of communications and doors to networking and sharing of ideas and knowledge. These are the leaders. They took seek advice but create the paths for the followers. They are the twitteratis (any Emirati who tweets) and everyone else follows them and retweets them because they have so much to say and want to spread the word.
So if you put the talkers, who tweet and are Emirati, what do you suppose you’ll get? The birth of Emiratweet. Emiratweet is everyone who falls under the second category of people but really, it is one girl, who had one idea, one inspiration, united (one) voice, and speaks to us and for us.
Emiratweet was blessed with kindness, passion and ambition and as she slowly opened up to new people, new adventures, new concepts, it stirred a need to want to change. This evolution of thought transformed into action quickly with the creation of EmiraTalks, a series of talks that engages Emiratis primarily to open up, express their feelings, lash out or laugh away.
I have the honor of calling Emiratweet a friend and another addition to my family of growing sisters. She’s awakened many of our dormant ideas and thoughts and so many more like her have done so much but together, we are a force.
A few years ago, we were always talking about changing mindsets and bringing like minded people together but the movement stayed between phone and lunch conversations because at the end a few people succumbed to the pressures of society and got married, or got too scared from what everyone else would say and noone really fulfilled the “fake” dream they dreamt off.
Off late, we’ve seen more and more talkaratis (Emiratis speaking on behalf of UAE and its people) and twitteratis and it made me think, these are the people we want in our history books because they are the agents of change.
As you read this, I’m sure you think “and so what? we have someone with a new idea everyday, every hour and then what?”. My only response is “what have you done today to make a difference in anyones life including your own?”. If you have to think for even 10 seconds about it, then you’d better walk away with your tail between your legs. That’s the problem with non-doers, you only know how to talk, but your sentences are full of fullstops and have no continuation or lead up to a story. So leave us to tell you how talking is done and we’ll finish the story for you.

Emiratweet shined with all the people behind it and supporters and you Aida was one of them … Emiratweet and EmiraTalks were blessed and honored to have such people pushing it forward
Thanks
